Polycrystalline diamond composite (PDC) bits have revolutionized drilling operations across industries, including water well drilling. Initially expensive due to high development costs, these bits have become widely available over time thanks to price reductions and design improvements.

While PDC wing bits also exist, they are less frequently used. The unique cutting structure of PDC bits, consisting of a thin layer of synthetic diamond bonded to a robust shoulder, distinguishes them from traditional tricone bits.
